Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
(14 August 2023 )
“Let freedom be in the body, mind and soul“
The partition of India is the story of unprecedented human displacement and forced migration. More than being a story of a violent divide it is the tale of how a way of life and ages of coexistence came to a dramatic end. With an aim to commemorate the sufferings of Indian freedom fighters and common masses during partition Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi announced 14 August to be
observed as 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' every year since 2021.
S D Vidya Mandir, HUDA, Panipat
, also observed this day as National Memorial Day by organising a morning assembly on the school premises, based on the theme of patriotism. The programme was anchored by Peehu of class X . The day commenced with an inspiring ‘Thought of the day’ presented by Sanvi of class X, followed by a motivational and emotional speech which was delivered by Gurleen a student of class X on the topic ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas ‘. There was PowerPoint Presentation on the topic ‘Partition pains can never be forgotten’. The patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram‘ was sung by the students of S D Vidya Mandir with great verve and zeal. Patriotic songs played during the ceremony filled the ambience with solemnity sobriety and sentimentality. The performers showcased their loyalty and devotion for the country by flag waving which added colour to the show.
The school principal Dr Anu Gupta offered humble tribute to the people who lost their lives and families during partition and emphasised further strengthening the spirit of oneness, social harmony, and human empowerment.
The celebration ended with the singing of the national anthem which further aroused the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of young minds.
